Providing Quality Healthcare with Dignity and Respect for 100 Years

The health services that became the Anthony L. Jordan Health Center, began more than 100 years ago, in 1904, and was one of the first five Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) established in the nation. Located in neighborhoods where the most pressing need exists, Jordan’s roots are steeped in service to underserved and uninsured residents, meeting their need for comprehensive health services. Anthony L. Jordan Health Center began in northeast Rochester and has since expanded to become a network of primary care offices and health centers serving residents living in three quadrants of the Rochester and in Canandaigua, N.Y.

  • 1892-1971

    Dr. Anthony Leopold Jordan

    Starts seeing patients at the medical office inside his Adams Street home in 1933, becoming the second African-American doctor in Rochester, NY.

  • 1971-1973

    Dr. Ken Woodward

    A pioneer in the community health center movement and helped found Westside Health Service Centers in 1973 to provide health care to patients based on need, not ability to pay.

  • 1971-1973

    Baden Street Settlement breaks gound on new medical facility at the corner of Hudson Avenue and Holland St.

  • 1971-1973

    Site renamed the Anthony L. Jordan Health Center.

  • 1973-1983

    Westside Health opens Brown Square Health Center.

  • 1973-1983

    Westside Health opens center on Millbank Street.

  • 1973-1983

    Westside Health's Millbank St. location moves to 480 Genesee St. and renamed Woodward Health Center.

  • 2011

    Anthony L. Jordan Health Center merges operations with Woodward Health Center and Brown Square Health Center.

  • 2012

    Anthony L. Jordan Health Corporation opens primary care sites at Glenwood Gardens and Kennedy Tower.

  • 2013

    Anthony L. Jordan Health Center expands adding Urgent Care, Radiology and Mammography.

  • 2013

    Assumes operations of the former Thompson at CCIA primary care suite in Canandaigua, NY.

  • 2013

    Rebranded Jordan Health.

  • 2013

    Jordan Health announces Dr. Janice Harbin as the center's first African-American female CEO and President.

  • 2014

    Anthony Jordan Health Corporation begins operations at the Franklin Educational Campus and at Community Place, becoming a network of 9 unique locations.

  • 2020

    Anthony L. Jordan Health Center opens respiratory clinic inside Holland Street location to combat COVID pandemic.
